Smoke Signal’s sire, Cerbat Mustang stallion Smokey, was born in the wild. He was captured for rodeo use, ended up for sale, and was bought by a man named
Clave White. White hired an acquaintance, Barrett Quickfort, to train the wild horse, and ultimately Quickfort bought Smokey for himself. Nowadays Smokey is
broken in and a hard working little stallion.
Smoke’s dam, Wyoming Wildcat, was one of Bonecreek Grange’s most valued breeding mares. She was a bay roan AQH mare, stubborn as hell, but a beast on
race tracks and a brilliant cutting horse. She was an incredible mare to ride - as long as you knew what you were doing -, and made everything look easy and
effortless. Unfortunately Kate had to be put down due to old age, leaving all of Bonecreek grieving.

Logan Colt
» Logan Oliver Colt, “Logan”
» DOB 07-19-1973, born in Canada
» Caucasian, Christian, heterosexual
» 5’4, brown hair, hazel eyes
» Mean purple-ish red scar over the left eye
» Blue anchor tattoo on the right shoulder
» Farrier at Orange Wood Ranch
Logan is a quiet man, a lone wolf, a wanderer. He was born in Watson Lake, Yukon, to farm worker Robert Colt and his middle school teacher wife Maisie Perron,
who was one fourth algonquin, making Logan and his older brother Ethan Theodore one eighth algonquin. His father on the other hand was Canadian-Irish,
Robert’s grandfather Cormac Merrick having sailed from Ireland to Canada; This is why Logan has an anchor tattoo and a love for sea shanties.
Logan had a quiet childhood in Watson Lake. He went to common school, including his mother’s middle school, and started helping his father on the
Villeneuve Ranch when he was fourteen. Farm life wasn’t always easy, horses are big animals that can cause a lot of damage, when they’re uncomfortable.
That’s what happened to Logan’s left eye. A young stallion spooked, threw a fit, and hit Logan square in the face. When Logan was sixteen, Ethan
enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force, and when he turned eighteen, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, wanting to be a soldier like Ethan. Logan served for
three years in the Navy; He planned to serve longer, but during the beginning of his fourth year, Ethan was killed in action in Afghanistan, where he was on tour f
for the Air Force. The tragedy made Logan return home to his parents, now their only child.
After the Navy, Logan got a job as a mechanic at a local car shop. He worked at the car shop for eight years, and at 29 he took over his father’s
position at the Villeneuve Ranch, when Robert was no longer able to work such a physical job. At the Villeneuve Ranch, Logan got reacquinted with his childhood
crush, the Villeneuves’ daughter Grace, and married her two years later. The couple got pregnant less than a year after the wedding and just three weeks
before their daughter was born, Logan’s mother passed away, leading the couple to naming their daughter Riley Maisie Colt. Right after Riley’s second
birthday, the small Colt family was blessed with another pregnancy, again a baby girl. Unfortunately, life seems to be exceptionally cruel towards Logan; Only
months away from their second daughter being born, Grace and Riley were in a fatal car accident, claiming the life of mother, daughter and unborn child, who was
named Sadie Abigail for her headstone to have a name on.
This was when Logan left Yukon and began wandering. He was 36 and had lost everything in life, except his father, who was slowly fading away due to
dementia. It was a blessing and a curse, Logan felt; Robert couldn't remember any of the Colt family deaths, and the nurses in the care home didn’t have the
heart to remind him. Logan travelled south to British Columbia and then over the border to the United States, working odd jobs wherever he ended up, and he never
stayed a day over two years anywhere. Along the way he began to steer more and more towards the ranch life, and eventually ended up working in Bonecreek Grange,
where he took care of, trained and rode Quarter horses and Colorado Rangers. One of his favorite horses, Kate, gave birth to a colorful little filly who he named
Smoke. Smoke was a mix breed filly and therefore useless for the ranch, so Logan bought her, and when it came time to leave Bonecreek, he took Smoke with him.
Life’s been a bitch to Logan, to be honest, but he’s been a fighter long before he was a marine. He’s headstrong - stubborn -, independent to
the point of solitude, and loyal like a dog. He doesn’t talk much and prefers the company of animals over people, but if you ever find yourself in a tough
spot, you can always count on Logan for help. Despite being a brick wall, he was taught to be generous and brave, and would give the shirt off of his back
even if it was the last thing he owned. He fights fiercely for what and who he believes in, and you don’t want to get on his bad side. Logan has a temper
alright, but only with people; With animals he has endless time and patience, and he’s a born leader that animals take quickly to. Despite never being taught
by anyone but himself, he’s a top notch rider and once upon a time very victorious in the western competing scene, which earned him the huge silver belt
buckle he’s donning day in, day out.
